Hi Everyone!

Here I am again in your mail box so to speak. It's Spring,
that means Love is in the air, new baby horses will be arriving and
we get to ride!!
And boy howdy am I ever ready for this rain to stop, the air to get
warm and to get back into the saddle!
Before we go any further, I want to mention, as we all
know Easter is coming up. I remember the days when some
kids would get baby chicks or rabbits as gifts. Not such a
good idea, and they are hard to find this time of year anyway.
But wait don't despair, there is a solution!
Ventura County Animal Shelter is over run with Hamsters!
Yes Hamsters! They are having a "Blue Light Special" on
Hamsters! Just $1, not only will you be rescuing a cute little
varmint from the shelter but they make a great small pet. They
are easy to care for and fun to play with.
Ok you can't ride it or put it on a leash, but they do have more
personality than say a goldfish!

Contact the Shelter today and get your little guys in time for
Easter. Save a bunny adopt a Hamster
today!
UPDATE 4/7/06: ALL THE HAMSTERS
HAVE FOUND HOMES! ADOPT A DOG INSTEAD! (OK really
they didn't all find homes, but they are not available at the
shelter anymore, find the full hysterical story in the
Public Forum)
I've been making lots of changes to HorsePlayCentral and I
am pretty sure you're going to like them! So lets get to the
list.
- New Foals/Yearlings 2006
Contest: It's up and ready to go. Once again
we are pleased to conduct this sponsored contest with prizes and
framed professionally done certificates from HorsePlayCentral.
Now all we need is YOU and your babies!
-
Classified Ads: They are still free thanks to our
longtime sponsor Vista Ford of Oxnard, but with a new
twist! Now they are "self-service real time"
posted. This means YOU have control over your own ad.
You create a user name and password, enter your ad, and bingo,
it's there! Very simple and easy. You will also have
"admin" rights to edit or delete your own ad. No more
waiting for me to do those things for you. Definitely an
improvement.
- Events
Calendar: The events calendar is also free thanks
to our longtime sponsor Vista Ford of Oxnard, and works
pretty much the same way. However you will need to create
a username and password in the message board in order to post on
the calendar. Once again, this is "self-serve real time"
posting. You will also have admin rights there to edit or
delete your post. If you do post an event, and it is
cancelled or details have changed please come back and edit your
listing, so viewers will have accurate information.
- Message
Board: Oh wow, the message board is unmediated
fun! Come on in and state your opinion on a variety of
subjects. You can remain anonymous, and anything goes!
I am also in the process of adding an ARCADE! Yep, an
Arcade with approximately 12 different games, it also has
a scoring system where you can compete with other users!
What better way to spend these rainy days, than with other
animal lovers playing games on HPC? Look for this in
about another week.
- New Mailing List:
I have also created a new database mailing list, that does
just about anything and everything you want it to. Just
like the classified ads and the event calendar it is also
"self-service" YOU control what you receive and what
you don't. You can take your name off the list whenever
you want to and then reactivate at will. You will find
this on the Home page of
the site. I would appreciate it if you would all sign up
in there so I can empty out my other address book.
- Weekly Polls:
We also have a weekly poll that can be found on the Home page of
the site. I would appreciate some suggestions for
questions on the polls, so please feel free to send me an email
with your idea.
- Stories &
Tributes: We are also looking for new Stories and
Tributes to animals we love or have loved. Share your
amusing animal stories of a pet that has passed or is still with
you. Send the information and pictures to me and I will
create for them their own special place on HPC .
Just like every one else I am looking forward to some dry sunny
weather and the new riding season to finally get started.
Many of the events around the county have been getting postponed
and rescheduled due to weather. Be sure to always check the
calendar for contact numbers and confirm that the event is still
happening.
That's about all I have for now. I will most likely think
of something else later and add it on, so it's a good idea to check
this page every now and then.
As always, may your trails be clear, the wind at your back and
your horses always sound.
